Is there any reason to get the Classified now over the FTW K, assuming a Broadwell-E CPU is being used?
I want to get an X99 board eventually and it's basically a choice between those two. Looking at the raw specs the Classified seems to have a stronger VRM, yet I've noticed Kingpin uses the FTW K so I assume the VRM makes no difference? I doubt I'll ever use LN2 but I do have a sub ambient/sub zero chiller. |

Few days ago, I'll suggest you x99 Classified.
But now, FTW K is cheaper. |

Honestly all evga motherboards are quite good with Broadwell E cpu. FTW-K, CLASSY, and Micro 2. I need to focus on high end VGA for my job so this platform needs to perform at a competitive level with other manuf., I push the mobo engineers a bit more for X99.
FTW-K is a newer board so it has some new things like killer network, usb features, etc. All three boards use same bios and OC very similar. Overclocking memory is a hair better on Micro2, so for single card benching I will use that one. For everything else I use K board or classy. These boards have awesome PCI-e performance with multi card 2x-4x gpus. |

Awesome, thanks for that info Kingpin!
Looks like I'll go with whichever is cheaper then, as I don't specifically need M.2 or USB 3.1... Just need 4 video cards + PCIe 10 gig NIC + PCIe sound card ![]() |
