Default Hey Kingpin, is air cooling your cards just not realistic?

Master of OC and and cooling, I need your direct advise please please?

I recent aquired one of your amazing cards for an incredible $450, especially considering its a near 79% ASIC rated card.

That being said, I am well aware from previous research that this are meant for hardcore watercooling and LN2 cooled setups to push the cards into near black hole creation speeds.

For my setup however, I deal strictly with air cooling for convenience and cost.

I have been unable to get the card to pass Valley and Heaven benchmarks without totally crashing my system at the 1520 core speeds via precision X, even with no memory overclocking.

1. I have already switched to OC BIOS and moved power limit to 150%
2. The fan approaches near 90% speed when the temps are at 68c on the core with aggressive fan curve
3. Maximum intake from twin 140mm fans 1 inch away from card is best my case can manage for airflow

I can try repasting with Gelid GC extreme but beyond that, I dunno what else I can do to get this card just to be happy with a 1530ish overclock core speed and im just so freaking frustrated right now. My MSI Gaming wasn't this picking even with a voltage modified BIOS at 1450 core at 1.23 volts. I am on newer 365.19 driver

What else can I throw at this thing Kingpin master?

In my experience you're about at the limit for an air cooled card, no matter which model or ASIC rating. That's all the GPU has to give regardless of how much power can be delivered or how smooth the power is. For a higher clockspeed you're going to want to get that card quite a bit colder - chilled water at a minimum.

Many of GM200 (980Ti/TitanX, you name it) GPUs are not getting over 1500MHz on aircooling, and extra voltage often just make things worse.

1520MHz is pretty good, considering price paid for such a card, so I'd be happy with it. Thanks to extra cores and processing units Ti @ 1500 is about as fast as fresh blingy 1080

Temps are way to hot.. figure out why.. I always recommend a repaste.

Try that first.

Yeah, I'll try putting on a proper job with fresh Gelid OC Extreme, but i'm not optimistic

We're all friends around here, I think you'll get better/more willing responses if you lose the snide attitude. Just a suggestion
