Yah for sure it to be used between alu backplate and board. best way to do it is to put a layer of foam in between them and you will get the perfect fit. The rigidity of the rubber is to give a better mount when mounting is fully tight.

So I finally had a chance to use my pot today, and I will tell you what..

Best benching experience ever. Great pulldown time. Easy to control, Super low temps. To bad my dewar sprung and leak and I ran out of ln2, but the Pot gets a win vote, from me.
Get the hot dogs out, this baby's going up in Flames!!!

Guys my Venom backplate does not seem to fit 1155 whatever I do the three Intel socket holes dont line up at all.

Thanks for the link. The first (and only, so far) time I used one I spent 15m trying to figure it out before saying to hell with it and using the Koolance V2 backplate :P
