Hmm I may sound like a noob (please forgive me )

But you are reading out the temps to have an idea to see on wich temp level you are. But its only to now when to pour more LN2 in ore?

@ nigel

In short..to know when to pour.

How "accurate" it is to the real core temp doesn't really matter as long as the read out is constant

If the "true" "accurate" coldbug of a cpu going off the core itself was -170
But off the bottom/side of the pot the read out said -164
As long as that number off the bottom/side of the pot is constant, you know to hold the pot above -164
That the core itself is at -170 "real" doesn't really matter

When you hear members talking about sub zero temps when using the likes of ln2.
99% of them are taken from the bottom/side of their pot

Having a more accurate read out than that, gains you nothing.
It's not like you have just got your cpu to go 6c lower, and may get more Mhz, your cpu it still bugging at 100% the same point, it's just your read out now shows a lower number (maybe)

Hum...cool, thanks for the explaination Vince. When I drilled out mine I broke the bit the first time, and had to redo the hole on the opposite side

At the time, I figured it was the way everyone did it.

But You're probably right, I was just curious
